How much tile adhesive do you need?

As a rule of thumb and assuming a levelled floor, we would recommend one 20kg bag per 5m2 when fixing Fastwarm insulation boards. A notched trowel is required to install almost all floor adhesives. The depth of the trowel required will depend on what the tile is being used for. We would suggest a 3-5mm bed of adhesive using a 6-1-mm notched trowel when fixing Fastwarm tile backer or XP insulation boards. Please note that substrates must be primed before tile adhesive is applied.

What is levelling compound used for?

Levelling compound is designed to make an uneven, unlevel, bumpy or undulated floor flat and level. Levelling compound is an essential step in flooring preparation, as it provides an existing floor with a flat and level surface for fixing tiles or other floor finishes. Self levelling compound serves as storage for the heat generated by underfloor heating systems, allowing the heat to distribute evenly across the floor.

How long does self levelling compound take to dry?

Curing and drying times of self levelling compound can depend on the conditions of the site. We base our time frames on ideal circumstances, such as good ventilation, an air temperature of 20 degrees C and 65% relative humidity. The duration of drying and curing may be prolonged in areas of poor airflow or sites experiencing cold, damp or chilly conditions. Allowances should be made in accordance with this. It will take longer for applications to dry when made on non-absorbent materials and at deeper application depths. These circumstances should be taken into consideration while making allowances on time. Please note: It is important to avoid direct sunlight or strong drafts when curing self levelling compounds. After 2.5 hours, UltraFloor Level IT Two of a 3mm thick application is typically ready to sustain moderate foot traffic.

What is the required amount of self-levelling compound?

For the purpose of covering the heating element, fully encapsulating the table and creating a level surface for flooring, we would recommended using approximately 6mm of self levelling compound.
