Heat Pump Renewable Energy

Looking for a way to heat your home that has a much smaller impact on the planet? Then heat pump renewable energy could be the perfect choice for you! Here at Fastwarm®, we are seeing more and more demand for heat pumps from our customers – and we have risen to the occasion! Our range of heat pumps is impressive, and there is sure to be an option that suits your property.

So what is a heat pump? It’s a great, greener alternative to a boiler. Air source heat pumps extract heat from the air or ground in order to heat your home – no matter the weather. This makes them perfect for use all year round. As well as lowering your environmental impact thanks to not relying on fossil fuels, they can also lower your energy bills. If your property is well-insulated or you live on a plot that does not have access to mains gas, an air source heat pump is the ideal choice for your home.

If you are worried about the cost of making the switch to renewable energy, help is at hand! Many homeowners are able to access grants such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme if they install a heat pump, helping them to manage the initial cost. We also offer a price match guarantee, allowing you to save even more when you shop with us.

If you have any questions about us and our air source heat pumps, then we would love to hear from you today. We’re here to answer your questions and give you all the information you need to proceed with confidence. No matter the nature of your query, our team will point you in the direction of the right air source heat pump for you.

Air source heat pumps work by extracting the heat from the air outside. Once the heat has been absorbed, this can be used to heat your home through radiators, underfloor heating systems and warm air convectors and hot water.

How air source heat pumps work

Air source heat pumps work by extracting heat from the air, similar to the way in which a fridge extracts heat from the inside. An air source heat pump can extract heat from the ground, air or water, even when the outside temperature reaches lows of up to -15° C. As this heat source is naturally renewed, these heat pumps save on fuel costs and reduce CO2 emissions.

Heat from the air is absorbed as a fluid into the heat pump at a low temperature. The temperature of the fluid is increased as it passes through a compressor before transferring its higher temperature heat on to the heating and hot water networks in your home.

Discover how an Air Source Heat Pump can benefit your home at FastWarm

Heat pumps are designed to work much more efficiently than a standard boiler system would operating at lower temperatures.

As underfloor heating systems and larger radiators disperse heat at lower temperatures over an extended period, air source heat pumps make an ideal way to warm your home.

Is an Air Source Heat Pump right for you?

Here are a few key questions to consider:

You'll need a place outside your home where a unit can be fitted to a wall or placed on purpose built slabs.

The points below need to be taken into account.

Outdoor Unit Air Source Heat Pump

  • The outdoor unit must not be placed on its side or upside down, as the compressor lubrication oil will run into the cooling circuit and seriously damage the unit.
  • The location needs to be dry and sunny, but not exposed to direct sunlight or strong winds.
  • A suitable location must be selected where the noise of the outdoor unit, when running, does not disturb surrounding neighbours.
  • The position must allow pipework and cable to easily be connected to the indoor unit (Cylinder)

Indoor Unit Heat Pump Cylinder

  • Ensure the indoor unit is easily accessible with plenty of room to carry out works if needed.
  • The indoor unit must be installed upright, a cupboard or plant room is ideal.
  • The indoor unit must not be exposed to excessive moisture or exposed to water.
  • The unit can be install into a garage or outbuilding, ensure the correct measures are put in place to prevent frost.
Due to Air Source Heat Pumps producing lower temperatures, its essential the property is well insulated. For best performance a minimum of 2016 Building regulation standards is recommended. If unsure please call to discuss your project.
The system will pay for itself in less time if it's replacing an electric, oil or coil fuelled heating system. Heat pumps may not be an efficient or cost effective solution if you're currently using mains gas.
Air source heat pumps perform better with underfloor heating systems and heat recovery systems due to the low temperature being produced. if intended to use with radiators, ensure they are correctly sized based off these lower temperatures. if incorrectly sized this may result in areas not reaching desired room temperatures. If advice is required please feel free to get in touch.
Combining the installation with other building work can reduce the cost of installing the system.
