Underwood Foil System Suitable Floor Coverings

When installing a floor covering over the Fastwarm® Underwood system you must ensure the system is suitable for the proposed / chosen floor covering, that the subfloor is correctly prepped, and the system is installed as per install manual. Please note that this system must be used with Fastwarm® Insulation Board or equivalent and that there is NO requirement for adhesive or leveller to be used above the Fastwarm® Underwood Foil mats.

Below are proposed preparations when using the Fastwarm® Underwood system.

Please note: This system is NOT suitable for tiles, adhesive or levelling compounds.

Suitable Floor Finishes to be installed directly above the underwood foil system Min. 8mm Max 18mm

Suitable Floor Finishes to be installed directly above the underwood foil system Min. 8mm Max 18mm

Ensure subfloor is debris free and flat if subfloor is uneven this may affect the systems performance and the final floor finish, in these circumstance it is recommended to make floor flat.

Lay a minimum of 6mm XPS / EPS insulation to the subfloor in a floating floor method. Once laid cover with Fastwarm® Underwood Mat and tape down to stop movement. Test system and lay suitable floating laminate or engineered wood floor directly above. Please ensure that no wood floor underlay is used as this may create a thermal block and potentially damage you Fastwarm® Underwood Foil Mat system.

Suitable floor finishes if covered with Heat Pak Dual Overlay panels

Lay a minimum of 6mm XPS / EPS insulation to the subfloor in a floating floor method. Once laid cover with Fastwarm® Underwood Mat and tape down to stop movement. Test system and lay Heat Pak Dual Overlay in preparation of final floor covering.

Heat Pak Dual Overlay will allow you to finish floor with sensitive floor covering or those that require a Low Tog underlay, these floor coverings MUST NOT be laid above the foil system directly. Please note over this system you should not use any Flexible Tile Adhesive or Floor Levellers.

If you are using a floor cover which requires glues or adhesives, please use our Fastwarm® 150w Sticky mat or Loose Cable Systems

Recommended maximum floor temperature limit

Every system has its own recommended maximum floor temperature limit. This varies between flooring manufactures and should be checked before turning on the system, below is a guideline of what these temperatures are.
